5/5/2014

I got there an hour and a half early, which should not be confused for being well-prepared:  The truth is, I had absolutely no clue what to do.  I was supposed to meet my boss on the steps of City Hall, which sounds easy enough, except for the barricades and the armed guards aimed at preventing you from doing exactly that.  But adulthood requires dealing with such uncertainties, and so there I went, explaining my confusion to an actually extraordinarily sympathetic security guard.  There was a certain amount of pride that came with standing on the steps of City Hall, just as I’d been asked although not quite instructed.
